School Policies and Procedures

Student Sign Out

When you pick up your child during the school day, please ensure that you sign them out from the school office. If you do not sign out your child, they will be unaccounted for, and the school will start the missing student process. Clear communication is essential for ensuring the safety of your child and to prevent unnecessary searches.

Punctuality

Students should arrive to school on time. The morning bell rings at 9:00 am to signal the beginning of the school day. It is important to be in class at the 9:00 am bell because this is frequently when the teacher sets the tone for the day and tells the children the structure for the day.

Absences

If your child is sick, please keep them home and let the school office know. If your child will miss considerable school for any reason, please let the office and your child’s teacher know. If frequent or lengthy absences interfere with the child’s learning, parents will be contacted. If your child is going to be away for personal reasons (e.g. a trip or vacation), teachers are not responsible for preparing work during the absence. Planned absences for non-emergency reasons (ie travel) of more than 20 days must be discussed well in advance with the teacher and school Principal, as space may not be available upon the student's return.

Dropping Off / Picking Up your child

School staff provide limited outside supervision before school at 8:45 a.m. and after school until 3:15. Parents are asked to ensure their child clearly understands their family’s drop-off and pick-up arrangements. Children who are not picked up by 3:15 are asked to go to the school office to wait safely for their parent/caregiver. Please ensure your child is picked up promptly at the dismissal bell.

Medical Emergencies:

Students should come to the office for medical attention. We always have a first-aid attendant on site.

Please ensure the office is made aware of any specific medical needs your child may have (e.g. allergies).

Evacuations

In case of an emergency requiring evacuation, staff and students are trained to assemble on the gravel field or tennis courts on the south side of the school. Visitors to the school should assemble in the same area.

Fire, earthquake and lockdown drills are held regularly. In case of a real emergency, the school has specific student release procedures in place to ensure that families are re-united as quickly and safely as possible, and to ensure accountability and tracking of each student’s safe release. Please ensure you keep your “emergency contact” information current. This includes people who have your permission to take your child in the case of an emergency.

Personal Items at School

As the school cannot be held responsible for loss or damage, students are discouraged from bringing personal items to school that are important or valuable to them (ie toys, money, electronics, collector cards, etc). Any items students do choose to bring or use must not interfere with the primary purpose of school (students learning together in a safe and respectful environment). If it does, the item will be removed and given back to the student or parent at the end of the school day.

Lost and Found

The lost and found box is set up on the bottom floor of the school next to the Youth and Family Worker room. Please check their first if there is an item (clothing, water bottle, etc) that your child has forgotten. Please be sure to label all items your child brings to school with their first and last name. This helps to reunite them if the item is forgotten somewhere.

Bikes & Scooters

Students should walk their bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc. when they reach the school grounds to prevent collisions. Students will need to park and lock up their rides once they arrive at school and not use them during the school day. Please note, ebikes and escooters also need to be walked on school grounds and cannot be stored inside the school. They will need to be locked up outside to the bike racks. If safety and security of these items is a concern, it is best that they are left at home.

Personal Digital Device Usage

To foster a safe and focused learning environment for students, the use of personal digital devices, that distract from learning, such as cell phones, tablets and electronic devices, are restricted during school hours and on school property. Educators and school staff will continue to model digital citizenship in the classroom and avoid the use of personal digital devices for non-instructional purposes. Personal digital devices are restricted for the instructional day. This includes class time, recess and lunch during school hours of 9:00 am to 2:58 pm. Personal digital devices must be turned off or placed on silent mode and out of sight for the entire school day. The use of personal devices is permitted under the following circumstances:

• For educational purposes, as directed by the educator in the classroom.

• For health and medical purposes as outlined in an Individual Education Plan or Student SafetyPlan.

• To support special or diverse educational needs, such as assistive technology related toIndividual Education Plans or Student Support Plans.

The expectation is that students will follow the direction of the educators. Students who repeatedly do not follow the personal digital device policy may be asked to store their personal digital devices with an administrator for the remainder of the day.

The 自拍流出 is not responsible for the loss, damage, or disappearance of personal digital devices that students decide to bring to school. A regular review of the school’s Code of Conduct guidelines for personal digital devices are essential to ensure their effectiveness and relevance in addressing current issues and meeting the evolving needs of students, teachers, and parents. Adjustments to the Code of Conduct may be necessary to ensure that school guidelines remain relevant and effective in promoting a conducive learning environment. Changes may be prompted by emerging incidents that highlight the need for enhanced measures to protect student well-being and privacy

Rainy Days

At Moberly, we highly value exercise and physical activity. As such, students are expected to be outside before and after school and during recess and lunch, and are discouraged from being inside the school or hallways.

On rainy days, students should make sure they are dressed appropriately. Younger students may wish to keep a bag of extra dry clothes (including socks and shoes) in their classroom in case they get too wet. On days with heavy rainfall, the administration may designate inside spaces for the students.
